English 9--2/6/2013

Jump Off -- Take out your Mulan notes from last class.  Read through your notes and star two items that you could contribute to today's discussion.  The goal of our discussion is to "wrap up" the film and "beef up" our notes pages.

--Mr. Martin shares list of students needing to revise for the Cumulative Writing Portfolio. If you need to revise, think about when you might schedule an appointment with Mr. Martin (the sooner, the better!).
--The due date for submission is March 4th (a little less than one month from today).
--Reminder: Any writing piece that has already received a score of 80% or higher can be given back to Mr. Martin for submissiontoday.

Transition -- pick up the "Literature Terms Notes/Theme Statement (Controlling Idea) Practice" sheet from the front table--Mr. Martin hands back index cards from last class

--mindfully work with the sheet

Closure -- Theme Statement
--Re-read your theme statement from the end of last class.  Based on today's work, revise or entirely re-write your theme statement for submission.

Review -- Vocabulary Unit #7
--engage in review via Sadlier-Oxford website

--Finish preparing for the Unit #7 vocabulary quiz, which will take place next class.
--If you need to revise for the Cumulative Writing Portfolio, think about when you might schedule an appointment with Mr. Martin (the sooner, the better!). See the list of office hours handed out early in the school year for Mr. Martin's availability. The due date for submission is March 4th (a little less than one month from today), but why not "take care of business" ASAP--be proactive!
