Jump Off -- Those of you who like using a study guide, pick up a copy from the front table.  Otherwise, open up your notebook/take out a sheet of paper.  We will kick off class today with a viewing and discussion of Act IV, scene i (revisiting the activity from last class).

Film/Discussion -- Act VI, scene i of Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet......and Beyond!
--finish our interpretation (run this by each individual class--1 ACE did first three lines--must continue building an interpretation; 3 ACE/1 BDF/2 BDF still building an interpretation)/act out?!?!
--view scene i, then engage in conversation as follows:
*analyze our interpretation and Branagh's interpretation of Act IV, scene i, evaluating how each version interprets the source text
--finish viewing the film, responding to study guide prompts/questions and/or jotting down notes as preparation for discussion (Mr. Martin will be using the "Discussion Contribution Rating Scale"--an overall discussion score will be given for all students at the end of Qtr. 4)

--put posters in groups on the floor in the middle of the desk circle based on obvious relationships (e.g., Edmond Dantes with Louis Dantes)--adhere to floor with masking tape
--remind students of goal of the activity (make connections between characters, discuss character motive [where applicable], practice using the text for support, and discuss plot, theme, etc. [where appropriate])
--partner work time (cont.)--brainstorm potential connections, and find pages in text in order to share direct quotations as support (Post-It pages)
--draw a card--one partner makes a connection with text support while the other strings the web--MR. MARTIN WILL ALWAYS STAY ONE CARD AHEAD, AS THE NEXT PARTNERSHIP'S CONNECTION IS CONTINGENT UPON WHERE THE YARN ENDS UP
