Senior English--12/14/2012


Jump Off 
--Spend the first few minutes of class studying for the forthcoming Unit #5 vocabulary quiz (preferably quietly and independently).  Mr. Martin will be around with the quiz after first handing back your Unit #4 quizzes (and presenting you with an incentive in celebration of your successes [BLOCK 4 ONLY]).  MR. MARTIN NEEDS THE UNIT #4 QUIZZES BACK AFTER YOU’VE HAD A CHANCE TO REFLECT.
--Complete the Unit #5 vocabulary quiz.  WHILE STUDENTS WORK, MR. MARTIN WILL HAND OUT BOTH THE TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE ANALYSIS ESSAY GRADING RUBRICS AND THE SHOW AND TELL SPEECH ASSIGNMENT SHEET.

HW 
--Continue progressing through the Tuesdays with Morrie Analysis Essay assignment--Mr. Martin is available for appointments!  This assignment is due on January 2nd (our first class back from break), and now that you have the scoring rubrics, it is imperative that you align your work/writing with the rubrics.  THE MEANING, DEVELOPMENT, ORGANIZATION, LANGUAGE USE, AND CONTENT RUBRIC WILL DETERMINE YOUR SCORE FOR THE CUMULATIVE WRITING PORTFOLIO. 
--The first day of Show and Tell Speech deliveries will be January 4th (our second class back from break).  You will receive more specific information about the scoring of this assignment next class. 
--If you spoke in front of the class today, view your video with this question in mind--What is my ultimate goal for the public speaking unit?
