English 10 Honors--9/15/2016

Jump Off (15-20 mins.)
--Pick up the "English 10 Honors--Literature and Nonfiction Terms/Concepts 2016-2017--Assessment--Terms/Concepts #1-20" document from the front table.  Complete the quiz quietly and independently back at your assigned seat.  Good luck!
  • When you finish taking the quiz, place it facedown on the floor underneath your desk.  Then, ...
    • pick up a copy of the class roster from the front table in order to cast homecoming votes.  Fold your paper when you've finished and leave it on the floor underneath your desk.
    • take out the "Questions to Ask Yourself When You Are Assigned a Writing Task" document with which we began working last class.  Do your best to complete #1-4 on the bottom of the document, and be ready to discuss your responses.

HW (Practice/Class Preparation)
--If you get inspired, "mess around" (some more?) with Membean in order to get a feel for how it works.  We will have computer access again on Monday in order to move forward.
HW (Class Preparation)

--Prepare for the following ASSESSMENT:

          • mastery of terms/concepts 21-40 ("Dialect"-"Literary criticism") next class (Monday, 9/19)
          • FYI: TERMS/CONCEPTS FROM THE FIRST TWENTY ON THE LIST ARE "FAIR GAME," SO MAKE SURE THAT YOU REVIEW THE FIRST FORTY.
--Continue getting in touch with your writing assignment partner and engaging in the "research" process (especially now that your purpose is clearer having analyzed the assignment sheet).  The more intriguing information you have gathered about your partner by the end of next week, the better!
          Writing
--The Thematic Essay Writing Assignment--Partner Interviews essay (your best effort) is due at the beginning of class on Tuesday, 9/27 (just under two weeks from today) typed in proper MLA format.
          Miscellaneous

--Enjoy your weekend--you only get so many of 'em!
