English 10 Honors--3/15/2019

Jump Off
--Please pick up a copy of the "Preparing for the GVEP Literary Contest" document from the front table.  As soon as I have inputted attendance, we will read this document together and engage in a Q & A.

Writing Workshop -- Applying the Conventions of Literature to Animated Film AND/OR the GVEP Literary Contest
--continue moving forward on the conventions of literature written response quietly and independently

    • finish outlining/writing both paragraph 1 and paragraph 2
    • re-read, revise, and begin RE-READING.
--consider logging in to your Chromebook and preparing for the GVEP Literary Contest

HW (Practice/Take-Home Assessment)
--WE ARE TAKING A BREAK FROM MEMBEAN 3/15-3/21; HOWEVER, YOU CAN STILL TRAIN THESE NEXT 7 DAYS (AND ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO DO SO IF YOU HAVE FALLEN BEHIND)
--Complete another 45 minutes of Membean training in three different days before 11:59 PM on Thursday, 3/28 (see the "English Department Membean Routine" sheet).
Writing
--The "Conventions of Literature Written Response" is due at the beginning of class NEXT TIME (Wednesday, 3/20).
--Your properly formatted, partially revised short story or poem is due by the end of the day on Wednesday, 3/20.  See your "Preparing for the GVEP Literary Contest" document for additional information.
HW (Class Preparation)
--Continue reviewing the conventions of literature, bearing in mind that you are expected to apply your knowledge and understanding (on the examination that you will begin taking next week, to Lord of the Flies, to your free reading books, to anything, really!) moving forward.
--Beginning on Friday, 3/22, you will be taking an examination that mirrors the New York State Regents Examination in English Language Arts (Common Core).  Please come prepared!
--If you have not yet selected your final free reading book of the school year, consider doing so ASAP (with the knowledge, though, that you must read a memoir, and we will head to the library soon)--ALWAYS BRING YOUR FREE READING BOOK TO CLASS!
