Jump Off
--Please attend to the following checklist for the first few minutes of class: 
  • Please pick up a copy of the "Mr. Martin's English--Soft-Skills Self-Assessment and Corresponding Comments" document from the front table.
  • Please obtain your Chromebook from the cart in the back of the classroom.  Back at your desk, log back in to ThinkCERCA and access your writing piece from last class block.
Block 4 BDFJump Off
--Please attend to the following checklist for the first part of today's class block: 
  • Please pick up a copy of the "Mr. Martin's English--Soft-Skills Self-Assessment and Corresponding Comments" document from the front table.
  • If you did not take the grammar quiz on Wednesday, please pick up a copy from the desk located in the front of the classroom.  Then, back at your desk, complete the assessment quietly and independently.  Good luck!
    • When you finish, please place your assessment in the black basket on the front table.
  • If you did not log in and complete the Membean quiz last class block, please log in and do so now.
  • Finally, please obtain your Chromebook from the cart in the back of the classroom.  Back at your desk, log back in to ThinkCERCA and access your writing piece from last class block.

Self-Assessment -- 1st Marking Period Soft Skills
--complete the document
  • FYIOn the back of the Post-it stuck to your desk, you will find your current GPA (not including Membean credit recovery [Block 1 ACE], the grammar assessment [in some cases in Block 4 BDF], the Membean quiz [in a few cases in Block 4 BDF]the writing pieces that we are wrapping up today, and, in a few cases, the Artifact Bag).
--When you finish, place your self-assessment in the black basket on the front table.  Finally, engage in free reading until further directions are given.

Before You Leave
--fully shutdown your Chromebook, return it to the proper slot, and plug it in via a cord

HW (Practice/Take-Home Assessment/Class Preparation)

--BLOCK 1 ACETODAY IS THE LAST DAY FOR CREDIT RECOVERY MEMBEAN TRAINING!
--Complete Membean training until you have earned 100 correct responses (approximately 45 minutes) over three different days before 11:59 PM on Thursday (10/24).  (See the "English Department Membean Routine" sheet.)
HW (Class Preparation)
--Please read at least 10 pages of your free reading book between now and next class.  ALWAYS BRING YOUR FREE READING BOOK TO CLASS!
Miscellaneous
--Block 1 ACE/Block 2 BDFIf you are not satisfied with your performance on the grammar quiz last class block, I recommend you take initiative and SEE ME AFTER SCHOOL TODAY OR TOMORROW.
--FYI: I will be sitting down and rereading/scoring your writing pieces Friday evening (#yolo! :) ).  Make sure, then, that your improvements are in place by, say, 5 PM.
--Enjoy the weekend--you only get so many of 'em! :)  Marking Period 2 of 6 begins next week when we return.
