--Find your name card and sit in the corresponding desk.  These are your new assigned seats until further notice!
--If you typed your paragraph last class block, obtain your Chromebook and log in.  If you hand-wrote your paragraph, pick up your document from the front table.

--When taking a quick initial look at your paragraphs, I noticed...
  • common errors and "fix-ups" briefly shared
    • attend to these items as per notes jotted down on the front board as well as the comment or two provided on your document itself
--"finishing touches" put on paragraphs

Transition (2 mins.)
--After resubmitting your improved paragraph, return your Chromebook if you used it.
--Take out your notebook and date the page (1/7/2019 [ACE] or 1/8/2019 [BDF]).  During the next part of today's class, we will bounce back and forth between me giving you a prompt and you doing some writing (hence the need for lined paper!).

Part 2--Setting S.M.A.R.T. Goals

  • How many of you know someone who set a New Year's resolution earlier this week?
  • How many of you set one yourself?
--link the concept of New Year's resolutions to Part 1 of our current activity and setting S.M.A.R.T. Goals
  • S.M.A.R.T. Goal acronym explained/notes written on front board/sample S.M.A.R.T. Goal (mine) crafted

  • Pick up a copy of the "Setting S.M.A.R.T. Goals..." document from the front table.

--set one S.M.A.R.T. Goal for 2019 that relates to Part 1 of our current activity
  • As you work, I will refine my S.M.A.R.T. Goal (if necessary) and circulate throughout the classroom in the hopes of helping you out!

  • Pick up an index card from the front table.  Then, write your first and last name at the top of your card.  Next, write your S.M.A.R.T. Goal down on your card.  Finally, place your card in the black basket on the front table when you finish.

--Read at least 10 pages of your free reading book between now and next class.  ALWAYS BRING YOUR FREE READING BOOK TO CLASS.
