  • If, for some reason, I do not yet have your "Artifact Bag," write your first and last name on a Post-it Note, stick the Post-it to your bag, and place your bag on the front of the classroom.
  • If, for some reason, I have not yet seen the rough draft of your "Letter to Yourself" assignment, place it in the black basket on the front table
  • Pick up the "Free Reading Course Component--Overview Document" from the front table, which we will purposefully read together shortly.
  • I would like to touch base with the following students during today's flex block:

Flex Block -- Chromebooks/GoGuardian/"Letter to Yourself"/Free Reading
--complete the following checklist:
  • Log in to your Chromebook
    • Change your password via a PC (if you have not already done so)
  • Enroll in GoGuardian via classroom code written on the whiteboard (if you have not already done so)
  • Finish typing your "Letter to Yourself" in Google Docs (if you have not already done so)
  • Access today's lesson on the blog (www.mrmartinsenglish.blogspot.com)
  • Copy/paste your "Letter to Yourself" into "YOUR FUTURE LETTER" field at the following web address:
    • https://www.futureme.org/
      • Click on "Choose Specific Date" and use June 25, 2022
      • Use your school email address (or, if you prefer, your personal email address)
    • If you feel compelled to do so now that your ultimate purpose is cleared, modify/add to your letter.
  • Browse the Room 203 library in search of a free reading book (unless you already have a book here in class today to read), and sign out the ideal book for you.
  • Engage in free reading.
Transition
--fully shutdown your Chromebook, return it to the proper slot, and plug it in via the proper cord--I'm watching yoouuu! :)

Teambuilding Activity -- Artifact Bags (time permitting)
--I hand a paper bag to random student--he/she then displays items from the bag one at a time, briefly describing what he/she is seeing
--guess who?!
--owner of bag further describes, explains, shares anecdotes, etc. as a form of introduction to teacher/peers
--REPEAT THE PROCESS...
HW (Class Preparation)
--If you have a book at home that you are reading or would like to begin reading for our free reading course component, bring the book to class next time (and daily between now and when you finish the book or the end of Marking Period 2, whichever comes first).  Otherwise, make time to sign a book out either from our classroom library or the high school library.  (FYI: The high school library should be open next week, and I will try to find us some class time to swing over there!)  I will be checking your books in the near future!
