  • if you have already fulfilled the Free Reading Course Component for Marking Period 3 and Marking Period 4 (e.g., turned in a one-pager), you can...
    • take out your current free reading book, settle in, and engage in free reading--students without books can read Upfront newsmagazine (located on the front table) OR
    • pre-read Act 2 of The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet.
  • if you not yet fulfilled this requirement,...
    • select and complete a one-pager.

"Assessment"/DEAR/HW Time -- Free Reading Books/The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet (remainder of class)
--When you have finished and put your one-pager in the black basket, select one of the following:
  • Quietly look for a new novel-length work in our classroom library (with the knowledge, though, that we will head to the library next week)
  • Engage in free reading of your current free reading book
  • Engage in free reading of Upfront newsmagazine
  • Pre-read Act 2 of The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet

HW (Class Preparation)
--Block 2 ACE:
  • If you are planning on leaving a voicemail "book talk", you must do so by 11:59 PM TODAY.
  • If you are planning on delivering an in-person book talk, you must do so by the end of the after-school period TODAY (unless we have made other arrangements).
--If you have not yet selected your final free reading book of the school year, consider doing so ASAP (with the knowledge, though, that we will head to the library next week)--ALWAYS BRING YOUR FREE READING BOOK TO CLASS!   
--Strongly consider pre-reading Act 2 of William Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet before next class for the "gist".  Consider visiting the following web address:
  • Writing returned/revised in waves
    • Wave 2--organization as per sample paragraphs for "The Cask of Amontillado"
      • Prior to "The Interlopers", share a few paragraphs as review of both organization and the concepts therein.
    • Wave 3--grammar hammer as per common errors
