English 10 Honors--1/4/2018 & 1/8/2018

Jump Off (15 mins.)
--Please take out your free reading book.  Engage in quiet and independent reading for the first 15 minutes of class.  Enjoy! :)

S. the C. (3-5 mins.)
--agenda/HW

Transition (1-2 mins.)
--Pick up a copy of the "Poetry Analysis Practice" sheet from the front table.

Poetry Analysis Practice Activity -- "On Living" (15-20 mins.)
--Step 1After purposefully reading the directions at the top of the "Poetry Analysis Practice" sheet, complete the task at hand until you are given another document and instructed to move forward with the multiple choice.
--Step 2: Complete the multiple choice quietly and independently.
--Step 3: Go over the multiple choice via a whole-class share-out.

Transition (1-2 mins.)
--Pick up a copy of the "Poetry Writing Assignment #1" sheet from the front table.  Purposefully read the sheet.

Writing Workshop -- Poetry Writing Assignment #1 (20-ish mins.)
--spend at least half of the remaining class time working on the assignment--if you are "lost" in terms of how to get started, follow the suggested procedures and see what happens!


Flex Time -- Poetry Writing Assignment #1/Free Reading Books (remainder of class)
--continue working on the writing assignment OR
--engage in free reading--students without books will read Upfront newsmagazine (located on the front table)

HW (Practice/Take-Home Assessment)
--Complete 45 minutes of Membean training as directed before 11:59 PM on Thursday, 1/11.  If you fail to appropriately train between now and the administration of Vocabulary Quiz #4, you will not be permitted to take the quiz until you catch up (see the "Membean Routine" document).
HW (Class Participation)
--Read at least 10 pages of your free reading book between now and next class.  ALWAYS BRING YOUR FREE READING BOOK TO CLASS.

Writing
--Continue working on the "Poetry Writing Assignment #1", which is due at the beginning of class on Thursday, 1/18 (ACE)/Friday, 1/19 (BDF).  Make sure that your work aligns with the scoring parameters.  My classroom is available after school for any individuals looking to "workshop" together.
Miscellaneous
--Consider working toward achievement of your S.M.A.R.T. Goal.  Do something great this year!
--Enjoy the weekend--you only get so many of 'em! :)
