  • Thursday
    • Set a timer for 20-25 minutes and read your free reading book OR  
    • Set a timer for 20-25 minutes and read the first half-ish of Jack Finney's short story "Contents of the Dead Man's Pockets" OR
    • View the first three videos of Mr. Martin reading Finney's short story aloud.
    • As you read/listen, look for evidence that helps you respond to the following questions:
      • What is something that the author does purposefully?  If you are struggling to come up with something on your own, consider selecting an item from the list below:

    • Keeping in mind that "a paragraph's a paragraph's a paragraph", outline (and begin writing?) your one-paragraph response to the following questions:
      • What is something that the author does purposefully?  If you are struggling to come up with something on your own, consider selecting an item from the list below:
        • (S)he alludes to an historical event, a famous story, etc.

        • (S)he creates suspense.

    • Consider participating in your class block's Flipgrid about the past seven days in which you...
      • share what you have been up to and/or some good news.
      • share a little bit about your reading and writing experience.  For example, you might update us on what is happening plot-wise in your free reading book or summarize what you wrote about in your one-paragraph response. 
        • Can you drop some Membean words in your video?!
