English 10 Honors--11/13/2019

--Please pick up a copy of the feedback sheet from the front table.
--Take a look at the "menu" for today's flex block.  Then, develop your "plan of attack" for our time together.  
  • For example, I might come up with the following:
    • Meet with Mr. Martin about my essay
    • Spend 10 minutes revising my essay while it is fresh in my head
    • Finish my Membean poster and send it to Mr. Martin
    • Check in with Kelsey and see if she is ready to trade stories; if not, set up a Membean training session and train until she is ready
    • Work through the short story feedback "thing" with Kelsey

  • Building an Interest Inventory
    • add some items to your chart now that time has passed since you last brainstormed
      • For example, since last time I added to my chart, I have taught a series of lessons about personality types in English 10.  I want to know more about the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, the accuracy of its results, contexts in which it is used, etc., so I would write MBTI on my chart under "THINGS." 
HW (Practice/Take-Home Assessment/Class Preparation)
--Complete Membean training until you have earned 100 correct responses (approximately 45 minutes) over three different days before 11:59 PM on Thursday (11/14).  (See the "English Department Membean Routine" sheet.)
--Complete another cycle of Membearn training until you have earned 100 correct responses (approximately 45 minutes) over three different days before 11:59 PM next Thursday (11/21).  (See the "English Department Membean Routine" sheet.)
Writing
--Continually improve your Thematic Writing Assignment--Partner Interviews essay.  Conferences will continue occurring until I have had a chance to meet with everyone, and a score will be reported as a part of your Marking Period 2 GPA.
--Improve your short story based on today's partner feedback block.  An electronic copy of your short story must be shared with me via email (jmartin2@livoniacsd.org) by before 11:59 PM this Friday (11/15).
--Review your notes for "The Masque…" in preparation for completing an in-class writing assignment NEXT class (Friday, 11/15).
HW (Class Preparation)
--Read at least 10 pages of your free reading book between now and next class.  You have up until early December to finish your book.  ALWAYS BRING YOUR FREE READING BOOK TO CLASS!
