Reminders
  • It is important for you to stay caught up with regard to all of your coursework.  It is in your best interest to check the blog and Schooltool often.  Additionally, if you have an "INC" for a Marking Period, following up with me ASAP would be wise!
  • Free reading evidence (a one-pager, a "Book Review" template, a book-talk, etc.) is OPTIONAL for the last two marking periods.  If you finished a book and decide to present evidence for an excellence score to be reported as part of your Marking Period 6 GPA,  you must do so by 3:00 PM on Friday, 6/14.  Please make arrangements accordingly.
  • I need you to turn in school materials (e.g., Lord of the Flies) during our last few class blocks.  Also, if you have any other books in your possession that belong to me, I need those back as well!
  • The NYS Regents Examination in English Language Arts will take place on Wednesday, 6/19 during the 7:40 AM to 10:40 AM time slot.  Continue preparing for a successful performance--I believe in all of you!

Circle Discussion -- Human Nature in Memoirs Symposium
--Today's symposium protocol:
  • The symposium begins by passing the ball to the next person in the circle so that he or she can first share his or her summary before passing the ball to the left.
  • If the next person wants to ask a follow-up question so as to gain clarity regarding the memoir, he or she will do so.  The ball will continue moving left in this manner until it arrives back at the person who started.
  • The person sharing will finish his or her contribution (quote, interpretation, personal anecdote, visual, connection to another visual on the wall, and extension of thinking).
  • The ball will get passed left again, and the next person who has not yet gone will go next (summary, ball pass, and remainder of contribution).
  • After multiple students (all students remaining?) have discussed their memoirs, if time permits, the ball will pass to the left so that people can comment upon, respond to, etc. the contributions that have occurred.
--Transition
  • re-column the desks and pick up the "Appreciating Others" halfsheet from the front table
--Closure -- Appreciating Others

Transition
--Please re-column the desks.  Then, obtain your Chromebook from the cart and log in.  Once you are logged in, please log in to NoodleTools where you will find Mrs. Donohue's commentary.  Please attend to her commentary, and when your name is called, please come up to the front table so that I can share with you information about the score that you have earned.  Finally, access the necessary materials for working on your End-of-Course Assignment and continue moving forward.
