Senior English--4/18/2012 & 4/19/2012

Jump Off
--Open your vocabulary book to page 87.  Quietly and independently complete the "Completing the Sentence" exercise.  If you finish and others are still working, go ahead a complete the "Choosing the Right Word" and "Vocabulary in Context" exercises.

S. the C. -- agenda/rationale/HW, go over exercise/read "Vocabulary in Context", share Quarter 4 analogy as a bridge to Activity #1

Activity #1 -- 100 Goals/SMART Goals
--share anecdote about happiness while at home on leave--link to purpose of 100 Goals Activity/maintenance of blog
--how does one achieve nebulous goals?
--share the SMART acronym--model use with 100 Goals List goals (my list...a student's list)
--Transition -- pick up an index card from the front table
--directions given (pick a goal, turn "SMART", fill in index card as per example on board [from earlier in class], turn in)
--pick a few to share out
--for HW, work toward or complete SMART goal--we will "celebrate" next class!

Activity #2 -- Hamlet Act IV, scene i--Staging the Scene
--complete activity as per directions on slides
--Transition -- study guide up, notebooks out
--The Room 100 Theatre Presents...
--view Branagh's Act IV, scene i--stop and discuss different interpretations

Film -- Hamlet Act IV
--continue viewing the film until the end of class

HW
--prepare for vocabulary quiz (don't forget about our tips/tricks!), which will take place next class--Mr. Martin will be rewarding the class with the highest class average following the completion and scoring of this quiz
--work toward or complete SMART goal--we will "celebrate" next class!
