Writing Workshop (cont.) -- End-of-Novella-Unit Literary Analysis Written Response

--"gist" reading of paragraph #2 (symbolism conveying theme)

• What revisions can we make to "clean up" my draft? 

--consider capturing the revisions made to the first paragraph of the exemplary written response
--begin copying down the second paragraph of the exemplary written response (8 mins. today--the rest next class block)
--copy down the notes about transitions/sentence-starters written on the southern whiteboard
--move forward on the writing assignment quietly and independently

• aim to finish outlining/writing paragraph 1 (if not already completed) and paragraph 2
• begin re-reading/revising and RE-READING?

HW (Practice/Take-Home Assessment)

--WE ARE TAKING A BREAK FROM MEMBEAN 3/15-3/21; HOWEVER, YOU CAN STILL TRAIN THESE NEXT 7 DAYS (AND ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO DO SO IF YOU HAVE FALLEN BEHIND)
--Complete another 45 minutes of Membean training in three different days before 11:59 PM on Thursday, 3/28 (see the "English Department Membean Routine" sheet).

Writing

--Move forward on your "End-of-Novella-Unit Literary Analysis Written Response" by completing the entire writing piece by the beginning of class on Friday, 3/22.  We will work in class again for a little bit on Wednesday, 3/20.
--Continue thinking about the following questions:

• Research Unit: What might you argue with regard to your research topic?
• At this point, you should have at least two proper sources printed out and actively/purposefully read.  Continuing to read in this manner should help you zero in on your argument!
• End-of-Course Assignment: What is your "why?"?

HW (Class Preparation)

--Be thinking about the memoir genre.  Whose life/what "type" of life would you like to read about during the last 12 weeks of the school year?
