In the Door
--find your name card and sit in the corresponding desk (seats may have shifted a little bit)
--attendance

Jump Off
--concept of the Jump Off explained again (REMINDER)
--Block 2: Turn in your purposeful reading, paragraph planning, and paragraph from last class (stapled in that order) to the black basket on the front table.  This should be your best work!
--If you have a writing portfolio binder (which you should!), place it on the floor underneath the SmartBoard--make sure that your name is somewhere on the binder.
--Take out your completed “Day 1 Review – You betcha vs. Nah, not so much” sheet, as we will begin class by going over this sheet in depth.
--HW policy (REMINDER)—point out names on front board

--Jot down "success ideas" on your Post-It Note—MR. MARTIN COLLECTS AND USES FOR STUDENT COMMITMENTS

Discussion – Establishing Our Classroom Environment: Rule of the Room/Developing Consequences
--share a “smattering” of information from Post-Its
--reiterate Rule of the Room--potential "breaks" discussed (link to Post-it information [which will become class commitments] as well)
--brainstorm consequences--discuss and make decisions via T-chart

Teambuilder – Finding All We Have in Common
--rationale/directions
--form partnerships by drawing cards
--pair discussions
--Transition – form a circle
--Community Circle – Partner Introductions
*State name, state partner’s name, state one learning about partner—SWITCH
