--If you have not already done so, pick up the "Short Story Analysis Sheet", a story map (if desired), and a copy of "The Masque of the Red Death" from the front table.
--Read the passage on the PowerPoint slide, which is an excerpt from Kelly Gallagher's Readicide, quietly and independently in order to answer the following questions:
- What is the "reading flow"?
- Have you ever experienced the "reading flow"? If so, when? (Be prepared to describe your experience.) If not, why? (Again, be prepared to explain your circumstances/opinion.)

- Students must remain silent.
- Students have the following options in terms of what to do:
- read a book (or another acceptable reading)
- work on class preparation/homework
- appropriately access electronics as per the "Yellow Zone" parameters (SEE BELOW)
- The following behaviors are not permitted:
- talking
- sleeping
- Bathroom/locker trips are limited to no more than five minutes. Students must bring a wood block pass (located on the univent next to the bookshelf by the door) with them to either location.
- Lack of compliance with anything defined above results in a referral for central detention.
Yellow Zones--Limited Use of Electronics
- Students may have limited use of electronics in study halls as determined by the staff member overseeing the study hall.
- Student use of any electronic device, including cell phones, on school grounds is prohibited, and deemed inappropriate, if such use is not in compliance with the student acceptable use agreement.
--No new Membean training is assigned this week. Therefore, you can catch up if you have fallen behind and/or put in some extra training for excellence purposes.
HW (Class Preparation)
--Finish your active/purposeful reading of "The Masque..." and consider actively/purposefully rereading the story as well. Be prepared for an assessment and/or a discussion about the reading NEXT class.
