English 10 Honors--9/21/2016

Jump Off (15-20 mins.)
--Pick up the "English 10 Honors--Literature and Nonfiction Terms/Concepts 2016-2017--Assessment--Terms/Concepts #1-60" document from the front table.  Complete the quiz quietly and independently back at your assigned seat.  Good luck!  When you finish taking the quiz, ...

  • place your work on the floor next to your desk
  • grab a laptop from the cart up front and get yourself logged in to Windows (I've been assured we'll have a better experience with the computers today!)
  • open your notebook to a clean page.  Put today's date (9/21/2016) in the lefthand margin and label the page "Thematic Writing Assignment--Partner Interviews."  Then, based on memory from past English courses and/or the assistance of your "English 10 Honors--Literature and Nonfiction Terms/Concepts--2015-2016 School Year" document, define the literary concept "theme statement" in your own words.  Be prepared to share and discuss your definition.
  • engage in Membean training or free reading (if time permits you to do so).
