  • Computers will be assigned via a drawing of cards.
  • Talking should be limited.
    • When talking must occur, get your peer's attention first and stay on task.
    • I will use the consequence system that we have in place for lack of compliance.

--Reminder: It is important for you to stay caught up with regard to all of your coursework.  It is in your best interest to check the blog and Schooltool often.  Additionally, if you have an "INC" for a Marking Period, following up with me ASAP would be wise!
--Reminder: The third question that must be addressed as part of your writing piece:
  • What is your "why?", and how is it related to your observations about/understanding of human nature?

Checklist:
  • finish finding sources (if necessary) and consider printing your sources so that you have access to them in the future for evidence gathering, interpretation, synthesis, and outlining
  • finish creating your Works Cited page (five sources minimum [as per assignment sheet])
  • type and include your annotations for two nonfiction sources as part of your Works Cited page (see "Nonfiction Source Annotations" sheet from last class block)
  • print two copies of your Works Cited page (one for me and one for Mrs. Donohue)
    • YOUR WORKS CITED PAGE COPIES ARE DUE BY THE END OF THE CLASS BLOCK IN THE BLACK BASKET.
  • gather, interpret, and synthesize your evidence
    • TIP: Put proper parenthetical references next to each of your pieces of evidence.
  • begin outlining
    • TIP: Strongly consider using the Classical Approach to organize your ideas into a cohesive argument.
    • TIP: Strongly consider using the "A Paragraph's a Paragraphs' a Paragraph! (CER)" template when planning each of your evidence-based claim paragraphs!  (TEMPLATES AND CORRESPONDING NOTES ARE AVAILABLE IN THE LIBRARY.)
HW (Practice/Take-Home Assessment)
--Complete the FINAL 45 minutes of Membean training this school year in three different days before 11:59 PM on Thursday, 5/30) (see the "Membean Routine" document).
HW (Class Preparation)
--FYI: We will continue the symposium next class block.
--Read at least 10 pages of your free reading book (memoir still?!) between now and next class.  ALWAYS BRING YOUR FREE READING BOOK TO CLASS!  During the final marking period, I intend to randomly check for books and include your level of preparation in my reporting via Schooltool.
--Review your materials pertaining to Lord of the Flies in preparation for analysis/discussion/a final assessment NEXT WEEK.
HW (Class Preparation)/Writing
--Continue moving forward with regard to the End-of-Course Assignment, which is due in approximately 2.5 weeks!
  • If still necessary, ...
    • finish finding sources.
    • finish creating your Works Cited page (five sources minimum [as per assignment sheet]).
    • more purposefully read your nonfiction sources.
  • Gather, interpret, and synthesize your evidence.

    • Don't forget that paraphrasing and summarizing is expected!
  • Begin/continue outlining.
  • If you finish outlining, begin drafting.
