--Block 4: brief familiarization with the "Reading Nonfiction Document"
--Block 4: conduct a gist reading of the first paragraph of the essay orally
--Block 2 (cont.)/Block 4: engage in discussion about the first paragraph (e.g., Why Sarrasine? What concept is being introduced in the first sentence? Etc.)--"talk to the text" (and, of course, each other!)
--continue conducting a gist/close reading (somewhere in the middle, really!) of the rest of the essay (oral reading of a paragraph, five minute independent analysis [gist and another note], share-out)--I WILL MODEL FIRST FOR THE SAKE OF CLARITY
